In the same way that coffee tastes best when all of its attributes are in balance, we believe that a business functions best when all of its elements are coordinated and balanced. We want to create an open and comfortable space for both guests and employees; to push the coffee industry forward in terms of service, quality, business practices, and sustainability. We are striving to help build a viable future for coffee, from the cafe level all the way back to the producers.


The Job: Barista

As a Rowan barista, you will be the face of both the business and the end point of a complex supply chain. This means you will:

  • be an integral part of creating a safe and uplifting environment to make a positive impact on our community
  • have a working knowledge of the coffee industry and the specific coffees we offer
  • serve as a communicator for the uniqueness of coffee and processes involved in creating the final product
  • offer recommendations, receive orders, prepare beverages and food, and facilitate retail sales
  • self-motivate and work both individually and as a team member to fulfill tasks
  • help organize/display incoming shipments 
  • observe all daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance tasks to prepare for future shifts
  • maintain a calm demeanor while acting with a sense of urgency
  • uphold the highest degree of quality while pursuing efficiency
  • likely be very overly caffeinated :)

  • offer a starting wage of $13.50/hour + gratuity with a promotion to $15/hour + gratuity post-training
