This community lot is sourced from smallholder farmers in Santiago Atitlán with small, remote farms of 1-2 hectares on average, where they grow and process their own coffees. The farms are largely only accessible by mule or by foot. In addition to the challenges with physical accessibility, the communities in this region primarily speak the native Mixe language, rather than Spanish, which can create language barriers for them. Combined, the challenges for the people in Santiago Atitlan region to gain market access and sell their coffees are pretty extreme.

Despite the challenges and access barriers, the producers of Santiago Atitlan are committed to producing high quality coffee and have been delivering increasing volumes to Red Fox since 2021 with more and more producers joining the partnership. The resulting coffees are a true labor of love and we're privileged and proud to share them.

This particular lot is dense and sweet with dark fruits and complexity that is reminiscent of coffees we find in Kenya, but is simultaneously distinct and unique.
